Strengthening resilience to extreme weather events

Accelerated access to climate risk insurance with Igloo

The countries of Southeast Asia are highly exposed to natural disasters. The Philippines, for example, is vulnerable to tropical cyclones, floods, and landslides because it has extensive coastal areas where all major cities are located. Vietnam is another example. The country is one of the top five rice exporters in the world. However, food production is affected by difficult climatic conditions such as flooding and changing rainfall patterns. Igloo, one of Southeast Asia’s leading insurtech companies, is addressing these very issues. Working with microfinance institutions and insurers, Igloo offers insurance programs for natural disasters and is working to launch blockchain-based weather index insurance.
