This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Giorgi Maruashvili, Associate Impact Manager, based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

  • Giorgi, why did you join BlueOrchard?

As someone with a background in development, I was excited to join BlueOrchard in its Tbilisi office. Being part of the Impact team allows me to contribute to important social and environmental causes. I’m pleased that the company’s values align perfectly with my personal and ethical principles, enabling me to earn a living while making a positive impact on others. Additionally, I admire the company’s innovative and creative approach to impact investing, as it develops compelling products to address complex global challenges and promote entrepreneurship.

  • What is your passion besides BlueOrchard?

I’m a coffee enthusiast with a keen interest in understanding the chemistry behind this beloved beverage. My passion drives me to immerse myself in literature and videos, exploring coffee brewing techniques, machinery/tools, bean varieties, origin countries and microregions. I’m constantly experimenting at home and visiting diverse coffee shops to savour unique taste profiles and engage with industry professionals. Additionally, I find joy in cycling, particularly in mountainous terrain, where the combination of exercise, fresh air and scenic views allows me to fully embrace the moment.

  • How do you make an impact in your private life?

I strive to be a responsible citizen and conscientious consumer of goods and services beyond BlueOrchard. I make a concerted effort to stay informed about the products and services I purchase, ensuring I choose the most sustainable options available. Whenever possible, I prioritize supporting local businesses. Additionally, I adhere to the principles of “reduce, reuse, and recycle” and actively advocate for sustainable practices among those around me.
