This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Daeun Lee, People and Development Manager, based in Zurich, Switzerland.
- Daeun, why did you join BlueOrchard?
“During my studies, I developed an interest in the public sector, as well as sustainability and impact investing. At the time, the impact field was completely new to me, and I found it fascinating. I appreciated the idea of working in the private sector while still making a significant contribution to society and the community. I also attended a guest lecture organised by BlueOrchard at my university and thought, “It would be wonderful to work for this company one day.” I was delighted when that ambition became a reality. Later, I discovered from my old notes that the speaker at that lecture was actually Philipp, the former CEO.”
- What do you like most at BlueOrchard?
- What do you like most about working in the impact investing industry?
“What I appreciate most is the opportunity to combine both commercial objectives and positive societal impact. Often, it feels as if you must choose one or the other, but in impact investing, we work in a unique sector where financial returns and social good go hand in hand. I also believe that many of the challenges the world faces today cannot be solved through traditional investment approaches alone. I am confident that the impact investing industry will continue to grow and eventually become mainstream in the long run.”
- What is the most memorable experience you have made during your time at BlueOrchard?
“My most memorable experience has definitely been attending two BlueOrchard Weeks. It was wonderful to finally meet colleagues in person after speaking with them over calls for more than a year. During BlueOrchard Week, we participate in a range of events together—including corporate updates and cultural activities. It is a great opportunity to get to know one another better and to strengthen our understanding and teamwork. I believe these experiences are part of the secret to maintaining the BlueOrchard spirit.”
Thank you, Daeun!
