Have you ever wondered who the people behind BlueOrchard are? As part of our #BOFaces series, we are happy to introduce Lado Jobava, Investment Associate at BlueOrchard in Georgia. We have interviewed Lado to better understand what drives him and why he enjoys working in the impact investing industry.
Lado, what do you like most about working at BlueOrchard?
I enjoy working alongside a diverse group of people coming from different backgrounds and nationalities. Regardless of this, we’re a group of likeminded people with a common purpose to make a difference.
What do you like most about working in the impact investing industry?
It gives me a chance to explore investment opportunities in emerging markets that create not only financial returns but also positive social impact.
What is the most memorable experience you have made during your time at BlueOrchard?
Attending a companywide event in France. It was a great way to meet colleagues from all over the world and, most importantly, put faces to names.
What is the biggest global challenge in your view?
Among the many global challenges we face in today’s world, poverty stands out to me. However, I believe that the extensive work done by different organizations around the world makes a difference. We, as individuals, also have a collective responsibility to contribute to solving this challenge, starting with small steps (i.e., financial contributions to charities, donating food, clothes).
What is your favorite movie? Why?
I opt for movies that are based on real stories. My favourite film is “The Pursuit of Happyness.” It demonstrates that in life, we will encounter many obstacles, but despite that, it is about fighting for your dream until the very end and never letting anything get in the way.
