Peter A. FanconiChairman of the Board
Peter A. Fanconi is the Chairman and former CEO of Swiss-based BlueOrchard Finance, one of the leading asset management companies in the field of Impact Investing. Peter demonstrated his entrepreneurial competencies in various positions, including CEO of the Vontobel Private Bank, a Swiss-listed bank, CEO of Harcourt Alternative Investments, a global leader in alternative investments, and managing partner at PwC.
Peter also serves today as Chairman of the Graubündner Kantonalbank (GKB), a Swiss-listed bank, as Vice-President of the ROKPA International Foundation, as a member of the Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship Committee of Brown University, Rhode Island and is the Chairman of EFG International, a listed global private banking group.
Besides lecturing at various business schools, Peter is a frequent speaker at governmental and public events. As co-author, he has published the bestseller Small Money – Big Impact as well as Power to the Poor.
Stephen MillsVice Chairman of the Board
Stephen J. Mills is a Schroder veteran having joined the firm in 1983 prior to which he worked as an economist. At Schroders he started as an equity analyst before taking on investment strategy responsibilities. In the 1990s Stephen established and built up Schroders’ asset management business in Switzerland.
He initiated and oversaw a series of acquisitions and partnerships at Schroders including Swissre’s fund management business, Secquaero (ILS), Adveq (private equity) and most recently was deeply involved in cementing the partnership with Blue Orchard.
Stephen is currently the chairman of Schroder Adveq and until recently was the president of Special Olympics Switzerland, a charity supporting the intellectually disabled.
Ernst BruggerMember of the Board
Prof. Ernst A. Brugger has been a consultant to businesses and public institutions in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia for more than 25 years, working on the implementation of sustainable development strategies in various fields. From 1986 to 1996, he was managing director and delegate of the board of directors of FUNDES (Fundacion para el desarrollo sostenible), a private institution with the initiative to promote small enterprises in Latin America.
He is the co-founder of BlueOrchard and the founder and chairman of the Board of BHP – Brugger and Partners Ltd., a consulting firm specialised in developing sustainability strategies. He is also president of the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cacao and the founding chairman of Precious Forests Foundation, which is focusing on research and innovation for protecting natural tropical forests. Furthermore he is also the president of the “tourism council Graubünden”. Additionally, he is an honorary member of the Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Sinikka DemaréMember of the Board
Sinikka Demaré, CFA, has held a variety of roles in business and finance throughout her career and has worked as an economist. After several years at Dow Chemical in treasury and business leadership, Sinikka took on the responsibility of their European pension funds. Following that position, she founded Ortec Finance Switzerland, a strategy and risk management consulting company for institutional investors. Today Sinikka is active as an advisor for institutional investors and their asset managers. She holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the Aalto University in Helsinki.
Peter HarrisonMember of the Board
Peter Harrison joined Schroders in March 2013 and is Group Chief Executive, based in London. He was appointed to the Board of Schroders plc in May 2014. Prior to his current role he was Global Head of Investment.
Before joining Schroders, Peter was Chairman and CEO of RWC Partners. From 2004 to 2006, he was Global Chief Investment Officer of Deutsche Bank’s various asset management businesses. Peter began his career at Schroders, and later spent time at JP Morgan/Flemings, as a Portfolio Manager.
Peter is the Chairman of the Investment Association Board and Advisory Council. He sits on the Takeover Panel and is a member of the Board of Directors of FCLT and the Prime Minister’s Financial and Professional Services’ Business Council. He is a member of the Advisory Board of CityUK and the International Business and Diplomatic Exchange. He is widely engaged in improving diversity and inclusion across financial institutions.
Carolina Minio-PaluelloMember of the Board
Carolina Minio-Paluello is Global Head of Product, Solutions and Quant at Schroders. The Product division’s responsibility encompasses creation, oversight of existing product strategy as well as the marketing of Schroders investment capabilities. The division’s Solutions business is responsible for delivery of strategic advice, customisation and risk management to institutional and intermediary investors globally. This includes Investment Solutions (including Fiduciary Management), LDI, Advanced Bond Beta, Risk Managed Investments (including Maximiser) and US Portfolio Solutions. The Quant division is responsible for managing portfolios with a quantitative approach. This includes Quantitative Equity Products and Systematic Investments. Carolina joined Schroders in 2019 and is based in London.
Prior to joining Schroders, Carolina was Global Head of Solutions at Lombard Odier from 2013-2019. From 2011-2013 she served as the Head of EMEA for Equity and Private Investor Solutions at Citigroup Investments Inc. From 2009-2011 Carolina was EMEA Head of Private Investor Product Group in the Securities Division at Goldman Sachs. Prior to this Carolina was Managing Director for Quantitative Investment Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management from 2000-2009.
Her qualifications include a PhD in Finance from London Business School, a Master’s degree in finance from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Omar QandeelMember of the Board
Omar S. Qandeel is specialised in project development and consulting for European and Asian corporations doing business in the Middle East and North Africa. Omar developed manufacturing and distribution projects for European corporations in the food and packing industry looking to expand their operations to the Middle East. Early in his career, he was involved in various research work in the public and private sectors. Omar holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Science Degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Southern California.
Georg WunderlinMember of the Board
Georg Wunderlin joined Schroders in May 2019 assuming the newly-created role of Global Head of Private Assets. He is responsible for developing the firm’s private assets expertise on a global scale, drawing on over 20 years of experience. He is also a member of the Group Management Committee.
Most recently Georg was the Chief Executive Officer of HQ Capital, a private equity and real estate investment group based in Frankfurt and New York. Previously, Georg was at UBS and The Boston Consulting Group.
Georg studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and Stockholm School of Economics and holds a PhD and a master’s degree from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
