SAINT-HONORE MICROFINANCE FUND
Product summary
Co-managed by BlueOrchard Finance S.A. and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Managers, the St. Honoré Microfinance Fund is a Luxembourg SICAV part II that aims at deepening and extending the reach of commercial microfinance by financing not only microfinance institutions (MFIs) directly, but also apex, on-lending institutions that reach smaller MFIs whose small size makes them difficult to be served directly by microfinance investors.
For investors, the St. Honoré Microcredit Fund represents an opportunity to achieve stable returns while helping more of the world’s poor engage in income generating activities.
Key product features

- Stable historical returns;
- Attractive historical risk profile:

The Saint-Honore Microfinance Fund target portfolio
“Apex” on-lending microfinance institutions:
- Local funds, international networks and local cooperative structures on-lend the funds that they receive from the Saint-Honore Microfinance Fund to often very small MFIs that the fund would not be able to reach directly;
- These investments provide the fund with high diversification and extensive outreach to very small MFIs and their clients.
Direct lending microfinance institutions:
- The Saint-Honore Microfinance Fund also makes loans directly to a diversified portfolio of MFIs that have reached a large enough size to attract international funding.
- This portfolio is diversified among non-governmental organizations, banks, cooperatives and non-bank financial institutions, and located in Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
All target investments share the fundamental mission of providing financial services to underserved, disadvantaged populations, and giving them access to capital for income-generating activities.
Social Impact
- Facilitating the growth of MFIs, while helping them support larger numbers of micro-entrepreneurs;
- Contribution to growth in emerging economies;
- Supporting the alleviation of poverty, leading to better housing, nutrition, health and education;
- Empowering marginalized groups, such as women, rural entrepreneurs and food producers.
