Before joining BlueOrchard, Maria Teresa worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for over 8 years, first in Uzbekistan and then in London, graduating from Associate to Principal to Senior Banker. Most recently, she was in the Group for Small Business which is EBRD's microfinance team. Prior to this, she was a project economist with the Asian Development Bank in Manila, a fellow of the Overseas Development Institute in Swaziland and a trainee at the OECD Development Centre in Paris. She holds a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies from the University of Sussex (UK), and a Degree in Economics (BA & MA equivalent) from the University of Florence (Italy).
Geert Roosen joined BlueOrchard in November 2008. From 1999 to 2008 Geert Roosen held a variety of finance and consulting roles at McKinsey & Company, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Fortis and Siemens. In his last assignment Geert Roosen was head of the strategic financial planning group at Fortis SA/NV responsible for the corporate strategy, capital management and structuring. Geert Roosen holds a Master of Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago (USA), and a Degree in Commercial Engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He is a Belgian national with extensive international work and life experience. He is married and has two children. Dutch is his mother tongue; he masters English and French and has a good knowledge of Italian and German.
DAVID MACDOUGALL - Director of Risk Management
David MacDougall has 25 years professional experience in the world of finance. He worked 20 years with Ambac, a financial guarantor, his first ten years as a relationship manager and the second ten as a risk manager. He was ultimately responsible for a USD 200 billion portfolio. His experience in microfinance includes consultant positions at Deutsche Bank where he worked on several bond offerings. He also worked closely with ASA in Bangladesh to establish the ASA Foundation in the USA. David holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College (Ohio, USA), a master’s degree from New York University Wagner’s School of Public Service in financial management, and an advanced professional certificate in management of financial institutions from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He was a Peace Corps volunteer on the island of Negros in the Philippines. David MacDougall joined BlueOrchard early 2009.
CHUCK OLSON - Chief Credit Officer
Prior to joining BlueOrchard, Chuck has worked in microfinance for almost 20 years. After working as a Peace Corps volunteer with an MFI in the rural areas of the Dominican Republic, Chuck joined the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) where he provided technical assistance to and managed relationships with microfinance institutions in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa. He then worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as a bank examiner where his primary responsibilities were to evaluate the risk management capabilities of large complex banking organizations. Later, Chuck joined the Bear Stearns credit risk management group where he identified, measured, monitored and controlled the institutions credit risk with other financial institutions. His last position was held within the Global Social Investments group of the Deustche Bank, where Chuck played a leadership role in the microfinance funds managed by the bank; managing microfinance clients, fund investors, structuring funds and managing the fund management operations of the team. Chuck is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese. He has an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and is a CFA Charter holder.
HEIDE JIMENEZ DAVILA - Head of Sales and Investor Relations
joined BlueOrchard from Lombard Odier Asset Management (Switzerland) SA, where she was Head of Sales Suisse romande since March 2010. During her more than 13 years with Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, she served as Fixed Income Portfolio Manager in London and Zurich and Client Relationship Manager for institutional clients in Geneva. Her previous positions include five years in pension fund consulting with Complementa Investment-Controlling AG and internships with Deutsche Bank and UBS. Heide studied economics and finance at the University of St. Gall. She is a board member of Groupe sida Genève.

PAULINE FRUCHAUD - Senior Investment Analyst
Before joining BlueOrchard in 2006, Pauline worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cuba, where she was in charge of managing local economic development programmes. She mainly focused on empowering small and medium enterprises by providing loans and building local capacities in finance and business planning. Prior to this, she spent two years as a Major Donors Fundraiser at UNICEF in Paris and held various positions in the area of economic development as a Programme Manager with NGOs in Latin America and Asia. She started her career in microfinance in Cambodia, working for GRET, an NGO, on a micro-insurance programme. Pauline holds a MSc in Management from Lyon Graduate Business School, France, and an MBA from Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada, with a specialization in non-profit management and leadership.
JULIE HUBERT MOULIN - Senior Investment Analyst
Prior to joining BlueOrchard Finance SA, Julie worked for 3 years with BNP Paribas Switzerland in Commodities Finance. She worked as a Relationship Manager in one of the trade finance team responsible for oil traders in the CIS, and prior to that as a credit analyst in charge of oil and gas counterparts with the credit structured team responsible for commodities clients in the CIS. Julie Hubert-Moulin holds a Masters Degree from the French Institute of Petroleum and the Moscow Gubkin University in Petroleum Economics and Management, and a Masters Degree from Sciences-Po Paris.
Before joining the BlueOrchard team, Veronika worked for two years at HSBC in the United Kingdom where she was part of a newly created Derivatives Pricing Project Team. Prior to this she worked in Latin America for three years in a rating agency as a Senior Analyst, assigning ratings to financial institutions in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. During this period, she helped to develop the “Microfinance Rating Methodology” and was a key element in the research, elaboration and promotion of the new rating methodology for the microfinance sector. Veronika is an economist and holds an MSc in Economic Development from the University of Glasgow.
Before joining BlueOrchard, Anne-Lucie worked for the Microfinance Information eXchange (MIX). As Lead Analyst for Africa, she was in charge of analyzing performance information of over 100 MFIs, producing several reports on the status of microfinance in the region. During her time at MIX, Anne-Lucie launched the Dakar office and provided trainings on performance monitoring and benchmarking at the 2006 and 2007 Boulder Microfinance Training Programs in Turin and for several networks in Africa. Prior to this, she gained experience at Transparency International in Berlin, at the World Economic Forum during the annual Davos meetings and at National Geographic Magazine in Washington, DC. Anne-Lucie, a French-American national, holds a BA in Human Sciences from Oxford University, UK and an MA in Latin American Studies from Stanford University, USA.

Prior to Charlie’s arrival at BlueOrchard in 2009, he worked as an analyst at Helvetica Wealth Management Partners where he developed a diverse financial foundation from his varied experiences. His responsibilities focused primarily on hedge fund due diligence and research, financial analysis, marketing presentations and reporting packages. His interest in microfinance stems from a research project he conducted on SRI products. Charlie studied engineering at Leeds University, UK with a year at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA and holds a Master of Engineering Honours Class 1 degree. To diversify his competences, he completed an MBA at the Collège des Ingénieurs, Paris with a simultaneous consultancy project at LexisNexis. Charlie is a CFA affiliate member.

MATTEO MARINELLI - Senior Investment Analyst
Matteo joined BlueOrchard in March 2006. Since August 2010 he is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, helping BlueOrchard to set up its first Asian regional office managing BO portfolio in South and South East Asia. Prior to joining BlueOrchard he worked with several microfinance institutions and consulting firms including Banyan Global in Afghanistan, MEDA in Tanzania, FAO in Thailand and WHO in Serbia. He has received field training from Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and the Boulder Microfinance Training Programme. His master’s dissertation addressed the issue of microfinance in post conflict countries in the Balkan region, where he spent several months collecting data in Kosovo, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina. Matteo holds a MSc. equivalent in Economics from Bocconi University, Italy, and diplomas from the London School of Economics, University of California at Berkeley and New York University, USA.
MIRANDA PHUA - Investment Analyst
Miranda joined BlueOrchard in September 2011, having spent many years with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) providing structured debt solutions to corporations across the Asia-Pacific region. Miranda was also a Finance Advisor to United Nations Development Prorgramme (UNDP) in Cambodia, a Kiva Fellow at Bai Tushum and Partners in Kyrgyzstan and completed microfinance training at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. Miranda holds a Master of Applied Finance (first class honours) and Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Melbourne.
Before joining BlueOrchard in Feb-2011, Vuthy worked for National Bank of Cambodia for 6 years as the Assistant to the Director General, having been promoted from staff to section chief in the Banking Supervision Department during that period. At the end of 2007 to early 2008, she was an intern at the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo. In this context, she largely involved in the Cambodia Financial Sector Development project and co-organised several international conferences and seminars, and participated in various meetings of the Asian Development Bank and the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association. She holds a BA in Finance and Banking and has completed a Master Degree in International Development Studies from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (Japan). She is a CPA member of ACCA.

CHARULATA SINGAL - Investment Analyst
Charu joined BlueOrchard in November 2011. Before joining BlueOrchard, she gathered extensive experience in financial services and banking whilst working at ING Vysya Bank’s Corporate Banking division in Mumbai, India. She managed clients across diverse industries and her responsibilities included financial analysis and due diligence, deal analysis and research, relationship management and portfolio controls. Her interest in social entrepreneurship and microfinance developed while studying at Harvard University, and she subsequently conducted a due diligence on the microfinance industry in China for Unitus Capital Private Limited. Charu graduated with an MBA from the Indian School of Business and completed an exchange program at NYU Stern School of Business. An Indian national, she is fluent in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Bengali; and is passionate about theatre, art and traveling.

YOLANDA CHENET - Senior Investment Analyst
Yolanda joined BlueOrchard mid-2009 after working for 10 years as a financial supervisor of microfinance institutions at the Peruvian Superintendency, having being promoted from Inspector to Senior Supervisor to Chief of Supervision during that period. She holds a BA in Economics and has completed a Master Degree in Finance from Pacifico University (Peru) and another in International Development from the University of Manchester (UK). She wrote her dissertation on the impact assessment of the regulatory framework on Peruvian microfinance institutions and has done field work on regional development and microfinance in India.
Prior to joining BlueOrchard in May 2010, Alfredo worked three years at Citibank Peru as head of planning for corporate business, and more recently as portfolio manager of a consumer loan portfolio of USD 300MM composed of installment loans and credit cards. Alfredo also worked at the Superintendency of Banks of Peru for nine years, where he held numerous positions as financial analyst of microfinance institutions, analyst of market and liquidity risks and also senior analyst overseeing the microfinance industry in Peru, conducting studies on regulatory reforms, Basel II, bancarization and the early analysis of overindebtedness in Peru. Alfredo holds a BA in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, a MA in Finance from Universidad del Pacifico (Peru) and also a Master in Public Administration from Columbia University (USA).
Gustavo joined BlueOrchard in March 2011. He has over 5 years experience in monitoring MFIs and financial auditing. He is a CPA in Peru earning his degree from the University of San Marcos and holds a Post Graduate degree in Finance from Centrum-Católica in Peru.
Before Joining Blue Orchard, Daniel worked at Fitch Ratings, as a lead analyst covering financial institutions in the Central American region. Prior to that, Daniel worked in consulting for Ernst & Young in Central America, and did two internships, one at an economic development NPO in El Salvador and another at Merril Lynch in Miami, USA, in the wealth management area. Daniel holds an M.Sc. in Investment and Finance from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and a BBA in Finance and Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) from Texas Christian University (TCU), in Fort Worth, Texas. Daniel speaks Spanish, English, and some French.

Prior to joining BlueOrchard, Gulnaz worked as a loan portfolio manager at the Micro Lending Company “Frontiers”, LLC. She was responsible for gathering and analyzing all documentation required by Frontier’s of their loan clients, conducting on-site due diligence inspections of microfinance organizations and processing loans. She monitored her clients’ activities and reporting. She also contributed to the marketing of Frontier’s services and to its outreach throughout Central Asia. Before this, Gulnaz was office manager of Mercy Corps International, overseeing their small and Medium enterprise lending program. Gulnaz studied economy and finance at the Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University after receiving a diploma from the Philological Faculty of the Kyrgyz State Pedagogical University and a certificate of the Iowa State University School of Agro Banking and Finance.
Zyinat Toktomambetova joined BlueOrchard Finance S.A. Bishkek office in October 2010 as a junior associate analyst. Prior to joining BO, she has worked for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Bank (EBRD) project on investment climate improvement in Kyrgyzstan. She was responsible for preparing Investment council meetings and later monitoring the implementation of the decisions to improve business environment. Earlier she has worked as Executive director for Association of Microfinance Institutions (AMFI) in Kyrgyzstan. Prior to AMFI, she had retail banking experience. She is a graduate of American University in Central Asia with a degree in management, specializing in Banking management.

SEBASTIEN JUHEN, CIIA - Portfolio Manager
Before joining BlueOrchard in June 2011, Sébastien worked in Paris for 9 years for Réunica, a major French institutional investor. He was responsible for the portfolio management: asset-liability management, asset allocation and mutual fund selection in every asset classes. Prior to this, he held various roles at Caisse d’Epargne des Alpes in Grenoble for 2 years in the asset management team. Sébastien travelled by bicycle for 2 years on the American continent from Alaska to Patagonia to meet MFIs and microfinance customers on the way. Sébastien holds a Masters Degree in Management from Grenoble Graduate Business School. He also became a Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) in 2007. He is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
ISABELLE MAAG - Operations Executive
Isabelle joined BlueOrchard in May 2006. Prior to that, she worked in Geneva for the German foundation Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the field of international development cooperation. In this context she co-organised several international conferences and seminars, participated in the annual meeting of the UN Commission on Human Rights and published a paper on Brazil's Foreign Economic Policy. Isabelle holds an MA in Latin American Studies from Cologne University, Germany as well as an MA in Translation of Spanish economic and law texts with Seville University.
LOUISE CORADETTI - Operations Executive
Louise Joined BlueOrchard in April 2011 with 5 years’ experience in Finance and Fund administration. She worked during 4 years at CACEIS Bank in Luxembourg in the custody department, after a previous working experience within the Energy Contractual Services Financial team of General Electric in Milan. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Siena College of Loudonville (New York), obtained in partnership with the CEFAM school of management (Lyon). She speaks fluently French, English and Italian.
DAVID BEGUIN - Head of Information Technology
David joined BlueOrchard in July 2009 after working for the company as consultant since March 2007. Before that he worked for several years as software engineer for companies such as Herkimer and Comcable where he specialised in development and integration of Microsoft technologies. David holds a BA of Science in information technology from HES-SO of Yverdon (Switzerland) and is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.
JULIEN BURN - Associate IT support and development
Julien joined BlueOrchard in May 2010 as Support IT.
Before that he worked some years as Support IT for Geneva’s Hospital and RSD (a software company).
He obtained a “CFC” in computer science in 2004 with a “maturité professionnelle”.
SOPHIE VAUDROZ – Accountant
Sophie joined BlueOrchard in April 2009 as accountant. Before this she has worked as accountant for 12 years in different companies and she obtained the Brevet fédéral of specialist in finance and accountancy in 2007. She has a large knowledge of general and cost-accounting that she learned in fiduciary (Bonnefous & Cie SA et Richa & Partners SA) and public foundation (Fondation des parkings). Her different experiences taught her financial, commercial and state accountancy. She was also in charge of administrative and accounting procedures that she had to put in place and follow up
ARMINDA MONIN - Accountant
Arminda joined BlueOrchard in September 2009 as accountant. She works in collaboration with Sophie Vaudroz. She obtained her Maturité Commerciale in 1995 and has been an accountant for more than 10 years now. During seven years she managed the general accounting of four subsidiary companies. To accrue her knowledge, she was also in charge of treasury department for one year. In 2003, she participated to the creation of an independent company for which she prepared all accounting structures and processes.
Priscilla joined BlueOrchard in July 2011 with 4 years’ experience in Human Resources and Administration. Prior to joining BlueOrchard, she worked at COLP (Compania Operadora de Lng del Peru) as Compensation Analyst and in Manpower Professional Services as Consultant. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management from San Martin de Porres University after which she took two specialization programs: one in Administration at Escuela de Administracion de Negocios para graduados (ESAN) and another one in Human Resources at Universidad de ciencias aplicadas (UPC). Priscilla speaks fluently Spanish and English.
LURDES MALLON - Office Manager and Bookkeeper, BlueOrchard USA Office
Before joining BlueOrchard in March 2008, Lurdes spent nine years at CW Group, a leading healthcare venture capital firm with over $350 million in assets. She worked directly for the Chief Financial Officer and managed the day to day operations of the office and all accounting and administration of the funds.
Lurdes speaks English and Spanish.

LISA SHERK - Head of Portfolio Analytics
Prior to working in the field of microfinance, Lisa spent 14 years working in investment management in emerging markets fixed income. Most recently, she was a managing director at the Atlantic Advisors, an independent fund advisory company in New York, and held previous positions at Wasserstein Perella Emerging Markets andthe Asset Management Group pf Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS). Prior to joining BlueOrchard, she conducted various microfinance consulting assignments with Gray Ghost Microfinance LLC, MEDA, and Pro Mujer International. Lisa holds a MA in International Affairs from Columbia University and a BA in Economics and History from McGill University, Canada.
CEES VAN GESSEL - Advisor to the Management Committee
Before becoming advisor to BlueOrchard Finance S.A., Cees enjoyed a long and outstanding career with ABN AMRO Bank as Group EVP. His main areas of interest have been in Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Relationship Management. After retiring as Global Head of Financial Institutions, Cees became an independant advisor to companies and institutions on Corporate Social Responsibility issues and investments. He now advises BlueOrchard on opportunities provided by institutional investors in the support of microfinance investments. Cees is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He obtained a Doctor's degree in Law from Leiden University.
