XacBank started its operations in 1998, as a project under the UN Development Programme “Microstart”. In 2001 it became a bank. Since that time the Bank continued to provide accessible and transparent banking services to marginalized citizens in remote rural areas, including the nomadic herders. At the end of 2008, it numbered about 54,973 active borrowers and 113,789 active savers and the average loan balance per borrower was of USD 1,875 (or EUR 1,400). Over 40% of its borrowers were women and nearly 45% living in rural areas. More than one in five of its clients started out below the poverty line. XacBank has maintained business relations with BlueOrchard since 2002 and has received ten loans, seven of which were out of the Dexia Micro-Credit Fund, for a total amount of USD 5.3 million (ca. EUR 4 million), one was from the responsAbility Global Microfinance Fund and two from each BOLD 2006 and BOLD 2007, for a total of USD. 10.6 million equivalent (or EUR 8 million). The BlueOrchard Private Equity fund invested USA 2.18 million in XacBank in 2008.

The Foundation Women's World Banking Colombia de Cali (WWB), an affiliate of the Women’s World Banking network, is a non-profit organization headquartered in the city of Santiago de Cali and governed by private law. The principal activity of the foundation, which has been in operation since June 1982, is to lend to micro and small businesses. It also offers basic economic training to women. WWB Cali is the largest microfinance non-governmental organization in Colombia and occupies a leading position in the South-West amongst its lower end micro-entrepreneurs. In 2007, the Foundation generated a return on assets of 6.0%, up from 4.9% in 2006 and a return on equity of 25.6% up from 20%. The net income for 2007 increased to USD 11.6 million, up from USD 7 million in 2006. WWB Cali enjoys excellent repayment rates on its loans with a PAR30 of only 1.3% and additional 1.3% including refinanced loans and write offs, as of December 2007. As of April 2008, WWB Cali serves almost 200,000 micro-entrepreneurs who otherwise have little or no access to capital. They work in trading (60%), services (24%) and manufacture (18%). Estimating that each micro-entrepreneur supports a family of four members, WWB Cali helps some 800,000 people to improve access to basic services and commodities, such as food, housing, education and medical services. While adhering to its vision of providing financial services, WWB Cali also distributes a portion of its net income in the communities where it operates, supporting hospitals and schools.  Clients evidently appreciate the services of the institution as client drop-out rates are almost negligible. WWB has been a client of BlueOrchard since 2002 and has received four loans from the Dexia Micro-Credit Fund, one from BOMS 1 and one from BOLD 1 for a total amount equivalent to USD 17.5 million (ca. EUR 13 million).

The First MicroFinance Bank of Tajikistan (FMFBT) was registered in August 2003 as a Closed Joint Stock Company and is licensed and supervised by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT). From 2007, the Bank took over the microfinance activities of different microfinance programs managed by the Aga Khan Foundation. Thanks to the strong growth experienced over the last two years, as of June 2008 the institution provides credit to 20,170 active clients and presents a gross portfolio worth around USD 30 M. At the same time, the Bank has managed to attract loans from several international investors, which now represent the main source of funding.

CRBB was organized as a cooperative in 1975 by 135 primary cooperatives in Bulacan province (about 50-60 km north of Manila) in order to provide financial services to its members. It received approval from the Central Bank of the Philippines to operate as a rural bank in 1978. Currently, 136 primary cooperatives are members of CRBB. As of March 2009, CRBBI was employing 295 staff of which 192 loan officers in direct contact with clients. The cooperative operates in the entire Bulacan province and has a branch office in Quezon City in Metro Manila Province. CRBB is the largest of about 1,300 cooperatives registered in Bulacan province, which is considered a top place for cooperatives in the Philippines. Approximately three quarters of the bank’s clients are in the microfinance business; the other product lines have very small loan sizes as well and could be considered broadly to be “microfinance” type of loans. In addition they offer financial services for families affected by illness or death or other difficulties to help them through a rough patch. CRBB has been a client of BlueOrchard since 2004 and over the years has received more than 13 loans from BlueOrchard, both from the Dexia Micro-Credit Fund and the Saint-Honoré Microfinance Fund, for a total amount of USD 5.4 million.
 

Established in January 2003 by LifeBank Rural Bank, LifeBank Foundation Inc. is a Philippine non-governmental organization located in Iloilo, in the heart of the Philippines, providing microfinance services to enterprising women. A very socially oriented MFI, registered as a nonstock non-profit corporation, LifeBank Foundation is a UNITUS affiliate and a client of BlueOrchard since October 2007. LifeBank Foundation also offers micro-insurances in partnership with a local insurance firm. As of November 2008, LifeBank was providing 204,250 clients with loans averaging USD 82.
